Welcome to the first Pigskin Prognostications column. We will be selecting games in the College and NFL for entertainment purposes only over the season. With no regular season games in the NFL until September, the colleges do kick off with two games Saturday August 24. With that being said, here is my analysis:
Florida -7 1/2 vs Miami (Orlando) Total 46
Florida returns Felipe Franks at QB and has all their skilled people back, along with an outstanding defense. The question mark about the Gators surrounds their O-line as they are replacing several starters. Miami has QB questions, but a bevy of starters back and their own outstanding defense as well. The coaching edge goes to Dan Mullen over Manny Diaz, but we believe Florida's early O-line inexperience is going to cause early problems. Florida will have the crowd advantage in Orlando but we like the Canes +7 1/2 Final Score Florida 21 Miami 20
Arizona -11 1/2 vs Hawaii Total (74)
One of the most electrifying QB's in the country takes the field for the Wildcats in Khalil Tate. To make matters worse for Hawaii, Tate is fully healthy after an injury marred 2018 season, one which he was supposed to be a valid Heisman contender. Hawaii on the other hand, has the most returning starters in the country and are always a tough out on the islands. They won 8 games last year, and although Arizona on paper has much more talent, we see a high scoring shootout with Hawaii keeping the score closer than the experts think. We like the Rainbow Warriors + 11 1/2 Final Score Arizona 41 Hawaii 31
Next week will see a full schedule and this columnist is looking forward to breaking down several games for your enjoyment.
